Rajeev Raja , are you aware of him? Well if not then we are glad to tell you that he is the man behind the viral song that everyone has been sharing over social media and messengers from past one month. Friends Anthem has become an instant hit among people especially friends.
The song depicts the very nature of friendship and once more reminds us that “Har ek dost kamina hota hai”. But you know the song, not the person behind it. So, Team, We Are Himachali feel delighted to present to you an exclusive interview with the man behind the friends anthem – Rajeev Raja.

Give us a brief introduction about yourself, where are you from, family background and other things.

My name is Rajeev Raja from the village. Kumharla (Pajhota valley )Rajgarh Sirmour my father (Sh. Babu Ram Sharma ) is a farmer and mom (Nirmla Sharma )is a housewife. I have 2 brothers (Kapil and Sonu ) they are in transport business.

 What fascinated you about Music and what are your favourite Pahari songs?

Basically I’m Bohemian . I like raw music jese ki kisi bhi jagah ka folk mood ke hisab se. Yes In pahari I like some dancing tracks in traditional Sirmauri (Beeni ) some of the songs by Arun Justa (chidiye Mehta ki Nati ) Kangri Song Mahadeva, Bholeya ho Saamiyan )

Friends anthem has been a hit with millions of people have watched it and many popular pages have shared it. Did you anticipate this sort of response? What do you feel?

I’m bad at singing I can say but I’m very good at writing and composing. Mene ye zarursochatha ki ek din Bollywood me jaungaapni composition k dumpr.. But iss Song ka response Bollywood film ke Song sebhizada mil raha he to I feel like ki mene Bollywood ki kisi blockbuster film me gana ga liya .Well still finger crossed. Even jb first viral video hum page pr daal rahe thy to mene Apne frnd ko kaha ki ye zadasezada 50 log share krege video socha ni tha ki  500,000 krege.

 As the anthem was in Hindi, does this mean that you will now stick to this genre or will you return to Pahari songs? What are your future plans?

Pahari . I love pahari Song and I proud being pahari mera bus chale to mai to Bollywood me bhi film me Pure pahari Song gau . And I will sing it very soon .

Not at all I’m first versatile singer from Himachal to mene har type k gane ( Hindi/English/Pahari/Punjabi ) pehle bhi release kiye he aage bhi mai pahari Song’s ko International chart pr le Jane ki koshish krunga . In this week I’m coming up with (HYKAATA) that is pahari Dance Track, for full album stay tuned.

Were there any problems which you faced during your pursuit of music?

Problems to aati hi he har field me koi nayi baat nhi thi . But Han jo praise hum Himachal walo se expect krte thy wo bhut km mili to jaha bhi shows vgerah k liye deserve krte thy waha phone calls wale entertain kiye gye . So I joined corporate shows hotel n all . Thoda ajib lagta tha 10,15 logo k liye gana but hmesha yahi socha ki this is far better than mantrio ke talwe chatne se . Or Aj unhi chhote gigs ki vajah se thoda bhut world wide naam hua he.

 Any special people you would like to thank for your journey so far?

There are a lot of people who deserve to be called special.  I would like to thanks, my mom-dad .guruji RD Sharma, Ramesh Dhiman, K.L Sehgal, my team Jinke sath mene Abhi tk 24 Song bnaya h wo sb log or specially har wo aadmi jinhone ye Song suna, share kia or mujhe yaha laakr khda kr dia . Yahan sb logo ki mujhse bhut ummid judi he . Or har ek aadmi ko mai Thanks krta hu who have showered their love on me.

What are your thoughts about other professionals in this field from Himachal? Who do you like best and what you like about them?

All are doing a great job especially some new artists like ISur studio, Lalit Singh and Devinder Thakur.

Any tips you would like to share with the people who want to join this field? What according to you is needed to expand Himachali entertainment industry?

There is only one tip – “Pagalpan for music” and right video direction. Himachali music industry needs good directors. Maximum himachali artists ko cameramen or video director me difference hi ni pata, jisse ki video pollution fail raha he . We have worlds best locations but we need some better executors. 

What other than music are you interested in? Your hobbies and other things, what is upcoming and when shall we expect it?

I love peace. I love  to spend time with family in the village, I love cricket but after Sehwag retired I hardly see it now. I love to play the guitar and listen loud music in my car (Nati) and some English songs.

Any message for our audience?

Mai har bar Freinds anthem nahibnakr de skta . But please keep your love and blessings permanent. Agar kabhi future me apki expectations puri nakr pau toh accept me like your own family.
