Akriti Heer : This girl from Kangra has scaled 7 mountain peaks at an age of 20
Akriti Heer also scaled the highest mountain peak in Europe: Mount Elbrus
Akriti Heer is from Sulyali, near Nurpur, district Kangra Himachal Pradesh. Just at an age of 20, she unfurled the Indian flag on the highest mountain peak of Europe: Mount Elbrus on July 24, 2014.
She is from a middle-class family and dream of mountaineering was a costly one. She was still in college when she joined Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttrakhand in 2012.
This was where she tasted success for the first time at the age of 18 by climbing to the 16,000 feet high base camp of Kedar Dome mountain peak, which is a part of the Gangotri group of peaks. That rush of happiness and satisfaction made Akriti want to climb Mount Elbrus next. The highest peak of Europe, Mount Elbrus stands tall at 18,510 feet
